Islamic at Deira International School

The Islamic Education curriculum provides an integrated and holistic course of study contextualized to meet the needs of students in all aspects of Islamic education. It trains the learners the sensibility of an individual, in such a manner that impact their attitude towards life, their actions, decisions and approach to all kinds of knowledge are governed by the spiritual and deeply felt ethical values of Islam”. It prepares human beings for holistic life with no separation of this temporary life which ends with death, and the eternal life begins after death. It is a means of training the body, mind and soul through imparting the knowledge of all kinds.  

As an Islamic Education team our aim is to deliver a wide and varied experience that provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand how to present the Islamic values in their real life and practice, and to be proficient communicators in the real world.  Our KS3 curriculum develops the necessary skills and knowledge with an emphasis on engagement and enjoyment through the topics that are studied.  The Islamic Education curriculum makes a significant contribution to the curriculum of the school due to the subjects focus upon the study of the Holy Qur’an, Belief, Prophetic teachings, Worships and the contemporary issues. All aspects of Islamic Education require pupils to critically enquire and personally reflect on space, place and historical events. The department aims to create informed, inquisitive and analytical pupils who can appreciate the world beyond their experiences.

Curriculum Intention  

Students will learn about basics of Qur’an recitation through Surha Qaf and the belief in Allah as He is with us all the time. 

Students will have a deep understanding of the importance of being very close to Allah the Almighty, this will be delivered by providing them with the required knowledge and skills about the value of sincerity. Moreover, they will be learning about the importance of the belief in resurrection and raising up as this life is a temporary one. This is important to strengthen the relationship with Allah and individuals in the society, especially when they learn about the seven categories of people who will be under the shade and care of Allah the Almighty 

Students in Year 7 will develop the full range of the IB Learner Profile skills.  Particular focus will be placed upon ‘Caring’, ‘Reflective’ and ‘Thinkers’ learners. 

Curriculum Implementation  

Teaching Methods:  

Presentations, group, individual, pairs, collaborations, class discussions and debates, using sources from a variety of sources. 

Assessment  

Students will be formatively and summatively assessed during each term.  Each term has a pre-content, mid-term and final review.  The final assessment will be based on concepts presented in the lessons.  These are delivered though Microsoft Forms. 

Wider Curriculum  

Educational Visits for Year 7 will include: A visit to Royati center in Nad Al-Hamar in which they will be attending a virtual trip in the past and history to look at special events took place during the life of the Prophet “PBUH” 

The topics studied are selected to instill within students a passion for the subject and Islam in the UAE.  They have been carefully chosen by the Ministry of Education to interest, engage and challenge our students.  The knowledge gained from the chosen topics give the perfect base of knowledge and skills required for further study in Year 8  

Curriculum Impact  

This of course is not the full picture of Islamic Education’s outcomes in year 7. Success in Islamic Education will also be measured by the ability of students to do the following: 

1. Reciting and memorizing the Ayaat from Surah Qaf and explaining the evidence of resurrection and raising up. 

2. Knowing the Hadeeth of those in the shade of Allah and explaining the reasons of winning the shade of Allah. 

3. Deduce the Oneness of Allah through the created universe and its systemic order. 

4. Explaining the aspects of the beauty of Islam in the light of its interest in Sunan Al-Fitrah. 

5. Compare and contrast Wudu and Tayamum. 

6. Inferring lessons learnt from the biography of Imam Abu Haneefa. 

Curriculum Intention 

Students will learn about basics of Qur’an recitation such as the rules of MAdd through Surha Yasin and the belief in Allah as He is with us all the time. From this chapter also they will be learning about the special characteristics of the prophet “PBUH” and about his honesty. 

Students are taught how to correct their intentions in their daily activities, and how to turn these daily routines into an act of worship, as this is obvious from the Hadeeth of the Prophet about intention “Acts are judged only by intentions”. This is important to strengthen the relationship with Allah and individuals in the society. This will impact students’ real live and practice by enhancing the great value of sincerity and to appreciate the gift of security  

Students in Year 8 will develop the full range of the IB Learner Profile skills.  Particular focus will be placed upon ‘Caring’, ‘Reflective’ and ‘Thinkers’ learners.

Educational Visits for Year 8 will include: A visit to the Qur’anic Park in Al-Warqaa’, in which they will be observing and watching different art work about lots of stories from the Qur’an 

The topics studied are selected to instill within students a passion for the subject and Islam in the UAE.  They have been carefully chosen by the Ministry of Education to interest, engage and challenge our students.  The knowledge gained from the chosen topics give the perfect base of knowledge and skills required for further study in 9. 

Curriculum Impact  

This of course is not the full picture of Islamic Education’s outcomes in year 8. Success in Islamic Education will also be measured by the ability of students to do the following: 

1. Reciting and memorizing the Ayaat from Surah Yasin and explaining the positions of people towards the message of Islam. 

2. Applying the rules of Madd. 

3. Learning the Hadeeth of “Acts are judged only by intention” and inferring the importance of intention in acceptability of acts. 

4. Deducing the effects of sincerity on the individual and society. 

5. Clarifying the factors that help maintain the security of society.  

6. Explaining how eclipse, rain and Istikharah prayers are performed. 

Curriculum Intention

Students are taught about the importance of being good citizens in any society they live in, by observing great respect and obedience to the teachings of Allah, His messenger and the Ruller of the country. This is important to strengthen the relationship with Allah and individuals in the society. Especially when learning about the seven categories of grave sins which impact individuals and the society.  

Students in Year 9 will develop the full range of the IB Learner Profile skills.  Particular focus will be placed upon ‘Caring’, ‘Reflective’ and ‘Thinkers’ learners.

This of course is not the full picture of Islamic Education’s outcomes in year 9. Success in Islamic Education will also be measured by the ability of students to do the following: 

1. Reciting and memorizing the Ayaat from Surah Al-Hujuraat and explaining the impact of obedience of Allah, the Messenger and the Ruler. 

2. Explaining the reasons for calling the seven destructive sins. 

3. Explaining the concept of Zakah and identifying the categories of Zakah. 

4. Explaining the relationship between security and peace. 

5. Learning the Hadeeth of permissible Halal is self-evident, and discovering the importance of avoiding suspicion. 

6. Identifying the spheres of justice and making sure of respecting the rights of others.  

7. Determining the manifestations of acting like the opposite gender.
