A Wide Range of Subjects

Students study a wide range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages, Computing, the Arts and Physical Education, alongside Arabic in line with UAE requirements.

Teaching at this stage focuses on developing strong subject knowledge while also strengthening key learning skills. Students are encouraged to think critically, organise their work independently, and take increasing responsibility for their learning. 

Lessons are designed to challenge students intellectually while supporting them to build confidence and resilience.

Building Independence and Academic Habits

Years 7–9 are deliberately structured to help students develop the habits they need for long-term success. This includes learning how to manage homework effectively, prepare for assessments and engage thoughtfully in class discussions. Teachers guide students in developing study skills, time management and reflective learning practices.

Assessment during these years helps teachers monitor progress closely and identify areas where students may need additional support or further challenge. Feedback is used to help students understand how to improve and take ownership of their learning.

Guidance is provided to help students select courses that align with their strengths, interests and future aspirations.
 

By the end of Year 9, students are academically prepared to make informed choices about their IGCSE and GCSE subjects. Just as importantly, students leave Year 9 with a strong sense of belonging, confidence and readiness for the increased demands of the upper Secondary years. 

The balance of academic challenge and pastoral care during Years 7–9 ensures students are well prepared for the next phase of their education.

Key Stage 4

 

Teaching is rigorous and subject-specific, with regular assessment, targeted feedback and clear guidance into the IB Diploma or IB Career-related Programme that follows in Sixth Form. Subjects are chosen carefully to reflect students’ strengths, interests and future ambitions, with guidance provided to support informed decision-making.

Years 10 and 11 are a pivotal stage in a student’s academic journey. 

Teaching in Years 10–11 is rigorous and subject-specific. Students are challenged to deepen their understanding, apply knowledge independently and develop strong examination technique. 

Lessons are structured to build confidence, resilience and consistency, ensuring students are well prepared for external assessments.

As academic demands increase, students are supported through clear expectations, regular assessment and targeted feedback. Intervention and guidance are provided when needed, helping students stay on track and build confidence in their ability to succeed.

Alongside subject content, students develop essential skills such as organisation, time management and effective revision strategies.

These habits are vital not only for examination success, but also for the transition into Sixth Form study.

Preparing for the Next Stage

Years 10–11 are also about looking ahead. Throughout this stage, students receive guidance on post-16 options, helping them understand the pathways available in Sixth Form. This ensures students are well prepared to move confidently into either the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Programme.

By the end of Year 11, students leave with recognised qualifications, strong learning skills and a clear sense of direction. They are ready for the increased independence and academic challenge of Sixth Form, supported by the solid foundations built during their GCSE and IGCSE years.
