DIS U15 boys crowned Dubai School Games volleyball champions
Deira International School’s U15 boys’ volleyball team were crowned Dubai School Games (DSG) champions recently after going unbeaten throughout the entire tournament.
The girls’ team also performed strongly on the day, reaching the quarter-finals before being knocked out by the side that would go on to lift the title in their division.
Student Artur was named MVP of the tournament, receiving high praise from attending coaches and scouts for his consistency across every match. Teammate Youte was also recognised for his standout performances on the court. On the girls' side, Haya Lofty was singled out as one of the top players in the competition.
Promote physical activity
Mark West, Head of PE at DIS, said: “To go unbeaten through a tournament of this size takes more than talent. It takes trust between teammates and the willingness to do the unglamorous work. Artur was outstanding, Youte was relentless, and Haya led from the front for the girls. I'm proud of every student who represented DIS on court.”
The Dubai School Games is one of the city's largest free schools sports initiatives, sponsored by Midea and open to students aged 7 to 18. It runs 26 tournaments across a range of disciplines, including the Wall Climbing Championship for U10, U13 and U16 age groups. Matches are streamed live through professional media production, giving families across Dubai the chance to follow their teams in real time.
The programme aims to promote physical activity, teamwork and diversity in school sports, while encouraging discipline and lifelong fitness habits among young people.
