Additionally, applicants will need to have the following:
Trained Teacher Certification (PGCE or similar)
Two years of relevant teaching experience
A degree or Masters in the subject area to be taught
Experience in the National Curriculum of England and Wales is an advantage
Experience with IGCSE or/and IBDP in the upper school is an advantage
Experience overseas and in an international curriculum is an advantage throughout the school, but not essential.

Head of Department - Arabic Language
Deira International School invites applications for the position of Head of Arabic department for the 2018-2019 school year. The Head of Arabic will be responsible for the department’s performance and the planning and delivery of the Arabic curriculum (UAE Ministry curriculum). The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Arabic language with a minimum of five years of teaching experience preferably in an international school setting. Candidate with Diploma in Education preferred. The successful candidate will have teacher approval from the UAE Ministry of Education (if your previous employment was within the UAE) and will demonstrate effective leadership skills and good communication skills.

AFL Teacher Assistant
Applications invited for the position of English speaking Arabic/AFL Teacher Assistant to start immediately in the Secondary section every school day from 8 am to 3 pm. Candidate must be native Arabic speaker, experienced in dealing with children, possess good spoken English, excellent communication and people skills. Computing skills are required. Ability to support students in Arabic/AFL classes for grades 6 to IB is an advantage. Experience assisting students with language learning difficulties will be highly considered. Candidate will be required to help the teacher in classroom organization, supervision and support of students’ learning, organization of homework folders, diaries and reading books, parent communication and all other academic activities required by the Arabic department.

Special Education Needs (SEN) Teacher Assistant
Applications invited for the position of SEN Teacher Assistant to start in September 2018 in the Secondary section every school day from 8 am to 3 pm.
Candidates must be able to establish good working relationships with students, acting as a role model, experience in a Secondary school would be an advantage. The role will involve working with students on the Autistic Spectrum, so experience or an interest in this area is desirable. You should be able to promote self-esteem and independence and have patience. Candidates must possess good communication skills both in spoken and written English. An ability to support students with numeracy is desirable. The role will be supporting students in the classroom to access learning and help with organization. You will assist the teacher with preparation of resources, classroom organization and all other academic activities required by the SEN department.
