Dear Parents, I am very impressed with how quickly students have settled back into school routines. Thank you for your wonderful support in getting your children here on time each day and so well turned out; uniforms are looking particularly smart and attitudes to learning equally positive. I have enjoyed meeting children and parents this week and look forward to meeting more of you in the weeks ahead. I am delighted to be part of this wonderful school and very humbled by the warm welcome extended by students, parents and staff – thank you. I appreciate all your feedback and welcome your suggestions and your support in 'Parents as Partners', as we continue to develop the high performing school that is, Deira International School. We are very pleased with the IB results this year and extremely proud of our students and what they have achieved. Our highest performing student gained 43 pts and 70% of student gaining 30 plus points with a pass rate of 91% in the Diploma. Each year every school will acknowledge those students who despite their challenges have pulled through and who give everyone the belief that anything is possible with spirit and determination. At DIS we celebrate those students whose results have simply been outstanding in terms of progress and achievement. Their success reflects their commitment, the support from their parents, the high standard of teaching and personalised guidance they have received here at DIS.
Earlier this term, our Primary School students performed Craig Hawes's 'Pirates of the Curry Bean'. It was a colourful and fun experience with 2 casts and over 100 children on stage. Our school community enjoyed a fantastic Production and we are incredibly proud of our talented students and dedicated team of teachers. Our Secondary School Performing Arts Department presented Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Cats'.Those parents and students who watched our Secondary School Musical were in for a real treat! It was a stunning performance with impressive singing, musical accompaniment and choreography. This production has been indeed a celebration of our talented students. Well done to all the teachers involved who have given the students a fantastic opportunity to perform in front of our diverse audience. They had an exciting two evenings of Dance, Songs and live Music. DVDs are on sale. Enjoy reliving the Memories.
