It gives me great pleasure as the Secondary Principal to welcome you to the start of our new academic year. I would like to extend my best wishes to all new students in addition to those returning to recommence their schooling here at DIS.
All the teachers have high expectations of our students in all aspects of their life in school; studies, conduct, appearance and commitment, and we seek support from our parents in all these factors which lead each child to develop and reach their full potential. We encourage and challenge our students to attain their individual level and to feel proud of any achievement.
The space and facilities in the school have created a very welcoming and interesting environment for our students to study. This applies to the academic and the practical subject areas we offer.
To further enhance the broader education and development of each child, we offer a wide range of after-school activities during the week. These are not only sport based, but can be an extension or support of something a student is already studying, or indeed a completely new area in which they have an interest.
The school weekly news will keep you informed of forthcoming events. We would encourage you to check this each week. Please also take a keen interest in your child’s class work and especially homework or coursework requirements and deadlines. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
If you have any general issues concerning your child’s welfare at school, please contact your child’s Tutor in the first instance. For specific subject related matters please contact your child’s individual Subject Teachers. You can also contact myself through the school office. We are here to help and support you.
