The 2016-17 academic year promises to provide many more experiences across a variety of ages, curricula and culture/adventure ranges. All trips abroad have a cultural adventure and/or ongoing local charity projects. Deira International School is committed to sustaining its capacity to undertake challenging expeditions that contribute to students’ personal growth.
Students are exposed to diverse environments to provide challenging, safe and responsible learning experiences beyond the classroom. We have successfully conducted student expeditions and educational tours to such locations as New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Lebanon, Germany, Nepal, Austria, Mauritius, Vietnam, Malawi and much more. Camps in the UAE are currently provided for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 & 9 students. It is expected that all students attend these annual camps.
Deira International School is also proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Universities and potential employers around the world recognise these qualifications as valuable assets for students applying for positions on courses, and look favourably upon those who have achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold status. Over 7 million young people worldwide have taken up the Award challenge. Duke of Edinburgh qualifications will have a lasting positive impact on student’s behaviour, skills and life chances. The awards have been implemented at Deira International School in order to promote many of the skills students require when continuing learning beyond the classroom. Year 10 students are invited to participate at the Bronze level while Year 11 students begin the Silver Award. IB students can combine CAS initiatives while participating at the Gold Award level.
