Occupying an expansive campus in Dubai's exclusive Al Badia community at Dubai Festival City, DIS fosters a community of teaching & learning, developing students into global citizens and true leaders. Providing a rich and comprehensive academic programme based on the National Curriculum for England, DIS complements its academic rigour with a broad spectrum of activities and extends students’ learning beyond the classroom by a programme of educational visits in Dubai and beyond. DIS focuses on teaching students to think critically, to explore knowledge, to question facts upon finding them and to approach all challenges and learning with enthusiasm. It motivates and equips students to further their education beyond DIS, to perceive education as a life-long process and become successful individuals.
DIS is a Cambridge International Examinations Center and an IB World School. In Years 10 and 11 students undertake the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme and complete their IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. Students work towards this qualification in a wide range of subjects and electives. In the final two years (Years 12 and 13), students pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Certificate (IBCC). The IBDP is reach and broad curriculum where students may study from a wide choice of subjects as well as being expected to participate in community service projects, field trips and sports activities. The IBCC students undertake work experience and training in local businesses as well as their academic studies. We were the first school in Dubai to pilot IBCC programme and accommodate those students who would benefit from a vocational type course.
